Shizune was a timid child, constantly fearful and following the rules. You know a child like her, the ones that always repeat the silly little rules to their parents that no one really needs to follow. The trouble was, she was proven right. A fateful night when she was four, her parents were killed in a car crash… and she was the only one wearing her seat belt.

She was sent to live with her sister’s younger brother, a kind man named Joshu Dan. Not soon after moving in, she met his girlfriend Tsunade. She was deeply impressed by the woman, and looked up to her as an idol. The couples stories about the school they attended made her promise she would go to the same school when she was old enough.

Dan was set to return to Oshima, and Shizune would follow. She was enrolled as a freshman, and was eager to follow in the footsteps of her elders. However, on the train ride to the island, her life was interrupted by another terrible accident. In the Mount Mihara accident, Dan made sure that his niece was evacuated to safety, only to return into the dangerous train to save others. Shizune waited for nervous hours with a couple whom Dan entrusted her to, until Tsunade arrived. The woman was the closest thing Shizune had to a relative, and was sent to live with her temporarily.

Shizune was enrolled in Oshima as planed, and dealt with her new grief by building a new life at the school that her uncle loved. She was a shy girl, with a few close friends who could keep up with her constant worrying and work ethic. She continued to stay close to Tsunade, seeing her as her last link to her uncle.

Upon graduating Oshima, she attended college and majored in social studies. It was going very well, until her sophomore year when she suffered a panic attack. She began to attend therapy in where it was decided that she needed more time in a stable safe environment.

She returned to Oshima, and Tsunade hired her as an assistant, and personally tutors her so that, when the time comes, she can become a teacher as she always wanted.
